GREAT FEEDBACK-SUMMER 2020

GREAT FEEDBACK-SUMMER 2020

I’ve collected here some examples feedback that YOU offered your peers to prepare for their final versions of speech 2.  I realize this may seem a little bit like a mind-melt—that is, collected here are comments you’ve made and then my comments on top of those comments.  But please think of this as a SHOWCASE of good work (and there was plenty more, I just grabbed a sample from each team).  Check it out:

I like what’s going on here, Kimberly responding to Sherina. There’s a mention of good detail and why that matters. But some concrete things Kimberly brings up are important–pacing and “dead air.” Also, Kimberly mentions her own drafting process (30 attempts. Wowza!) and it reminds us of how repetition is important. (Click on the screenshot above so you can read it clearly).
Tori brings up the “hook” here responding to Sierra. This is good–we need to connect to the speaker, and for this speech, the object is so central. ALSO, notice how Tori keeps her eye on the clock? Fitting within the time limit of our speeches is ESSENTIAL. (Click on the screenshot above so you can read it clearly).
Here Ann is working with Frank’s draft. Thoughtful, and she brings up a good point re: organization. What I REALLY like here is how she’s commenting on a concern about how natural the speech should be (the sense of reading off of something vs. something more natural). THIS is very important for us! (Click on the screenshot above so you can read it clearly).
Lastly, I LOVE what’s happening here. Notice how Riley is picking up on (echoing) Anna’s concern about organization and clarity. Multiple people responding about the same concerns is often a good indication to take heed! (Click on the screenshot above so you can read it clearly).
